The Advantages: Why Wood is One of the Most Applied Materials

For years, wood has been extensively used for outdoor kitchens. In the natural garden environment, wood always fits. Wooden outdoor kitchens come in all shapes and sizes. Due to its ease of manipulation, almost anything can be crafted, from compact kitchen blocks to complete kitchens with a bar and various options.

The types of wood used range from more economical scaffolding wood to durable oak and Douglas wood. These wood types naturally weather, giving them a weathered appearance. Each type of wood has its own pros and cons, with scaffolding wood being more affordable, while treated oak is more durable.

The Disadvantages of a Wooden Outdoor Kitchen

Unfortunately, using wood for an outdoor kitchen comes with its drawbacks, and it's crucial to consider these disadvantages. Wood is a natural product, which means it undergoes changes like expansion, contraction, and warping, and its color naturally weathers. Opting for a modern outdoor kitchen with beautiful, warm-toned Douglas wood fronts? The kitchen will likely weather quickly, even if placed under a porch or veranda, due to the damp conditions. Another consequence is that the wooden fronts may warp and deform, a common natural characteristic of wood. Unfortunately, there is little that can be done to prevent this. The result? Your doors may not close properly or may do so with difficulty, and the sleek design may appear warped and worn.

To significantly extend the lifespan of a wooden outdoor kitchen, it's recommended to treat it at least annually. Applying a coat of varnish or stain helps maintain the original color. However, a drawback is the need for yearly maintenance.

Aluminium, Stainless Steel, and Dekton: The Materials Used by COOXS

Based on our experience in outdoor living, we've observed that people often regret choosing wood. The drawbacks can be more significant than anticipated, and the kitchen's aesthetic appeal quickly diminishes. That's why we exclusively use durable, weather-resistant materials. All cabinets (including drawers, fronts, etc.) are crafted from solid aluminum. This metal type never rusts and gains an even more exclusive look with a robust powder coating finish. Maintenance? Just a wipe for cleaning is sufficient. Additionally, we incorporate high-quality stainless steel hardware. For the countertops, you have a wide range of Dekton colors to choose from, ranging from marble to concrete looks.
